How are the results calculated?

Contribution per unit = selling price − variable cost.

Contribution margin = unit contribution ÷ selling price × 100.

Total contribution = contribution per unit × quantity.

Assumptions and limits

  • Contribution is not net profit: fixed costs have not been deducted. Include the full variable cost per unit without counting any item twice.
  • A percentage is undefined when its base is zero. The calculated amounts remain visible.
